Tanzania
Floods: rapid needs assessment solution
The event
In April 2023, severe flooding in western Tanzania has claimed hundreds of lives, with the Talanda River overflowing and causing extensive damage to homes in the Sumbawanga District.
The response
The ERT provided digital tools including a rapid assessment solution that facilitated data analysis and real-time broadcasting for decision makers at the headquarters.
The impact
The digital solution enabled the INGO to make swift and well-informed decisions in challenging and fragile environments.
Turkiye
Earthquake: Collection and distribution of relief needs
The event
On February 6, two massive earthquakes rocked southeastern Türkiye. According to the latest statement of AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency), 45,089 people lost their lives. 115,000 people were injured.
The response
The response: Three days after devastating earthquakes shook Türkiye on February 6, the ERT arrived near the earthquake epicenter, to provide digital aid to aid organizations. With the help of our Turkish partner Omnifactors, ERT implemented digital tools for local grassroot organizations including field assessments, automated emergency call centers and more, assuring that critical aid requests reach communities on time.
The impact
In the first 48 hours of using our platform, a member of the Anatolian Federation collected over 600 aid requests and distributed over 16,000 kg of goods and over 50,000 items, saving over 60% of their operational time.
Germany
Supply chain management
The event
Bamberg:UA is a German based NGO that in April 2022 began to support Ukrainian refugees and displaced persons.
The response
The ERT digitized this organization's inventory and donor management system, for shipments leaving Germany and headed to Ukraine, allowing the organization to focus their efforts on fundraising and logistics.
The impact
The impact: The organization was able to save time on repetitive processes, and provide quicker response to community based organizations in Ukraine.
Israel
Environmental disaster preparedness
The event
Work an Israeli NGO in charge of managing and coordinating the response to ocean related disasters and oil spills, through a vast network of civil volunteers and government agencies.
The response
The ERT supported Ecoocean in creating a regional system for event preparedness and team management, allowing HQ to have a centralized digital command center.
The impact
Ecoocean's team and volunteers are able to prepare, manage and coordinate an emergency event more rapidly, effectively and accurately.
Ukraine
War response
The event
A few days after the Ukraine war broke out, with thousands of refugees escaping the border, the ERT arrived at the Moldova and Poland border crossings to offer support to both government and humanitarian aid organizations.
The response
Within days a team of 40 monday.com volunteers created the digital tools to manage refugee camps, intake data on their needs, and manage the safe transport of refugees to their final desired destinations.
The impact
The camp managers were able to provide effective and agile services to the influx of refugees, and efficient camp management during the first days of the displacement crisis.
South Africa
Floods response
The event
Following heavy rains in the Durban area of South Africa in 2022, the ERT deployed to assist Red Cross South Africa (RCSA) disaster relief efforts.
The response
We supported the South African Red Cross national disaster relief operations with our disaster management solution, enabling the operational teams to respond rapidly and efficiently, based on real-time data submitted directly from the affected areas.
The impact
The RCSA teams and other stakeholders could visualize the situational analysis and design interventions based on real-time insights.
Uganda
Emergency Operation Center
The event
In two days the ERT created use cases to collect data from different organizations in the field, design a 4W database for responding NGOs, and visualize the needs of affected communities
The response
During the workshop, the ERT was able to leverage the monday.com platform as the official national tool for managing and coordinating emergency response operations among the six EOCs across the country.
The impact
monday.com’s platform enabled the EOC to make effective and data driven decisions in real time, and better prepare for future disasters
India
Floods response
The event
Following extremely heavy rains in the Assam state of North India in 2022, the ERT deployed to assist HAI grassroots organizations with their disaster relief efforts.
The response
The ERT enabled our partner's disaster operations to operate rapidly by digitizing their informational cycle, from raw data collection to automatic data analyses and real-time visualization on monday.com dashboards.
The impact
HAI teams and other stakeholders were able to visualize the situational analysis, and design interventions using real-time insights.
Brazil
Wild fires
The event
Following extreme wildfires, the ERT deployed to support local NGO UniãoBR with their disaster relief efforts.
The response
The ERT digitized our partner's core operations in coordination efforts of over 300 partners and distribution programs for over 100k beneficiaries.
The impact
Due to efficient coordination and distribution efforts, our partner was able to reach more vulnerable and affected communities with the same financial and manpower resources.
Argentina
Humanitarian HUB
The event
Supporting Red Cross Argentina in developing logistical supply chain management solutions for their regional disaster relief warehouse.
The response
The warehouse provides regional logistical support during emergency events. The ERT support enabled the Red Cross to respond to more emergency events in a more efficient and transparent way.
The impact
By utilizing our emergency logistical supply chain management solution the Red Cross teams managed to save resources and lives with the efficient operation of their HUB.
India
Floods: Early Warning System
The event
The northeastern part of India, specifically Assam state, is prone to annual tropical typhoons that result in severe floods and widespread disruptions
The response
ERT partnered with two other tech companies to develop an early warning system, combining weather monitoring, mass notifications, and centralized communication using monday.com as an aggregator
The impact
The solution could potentially enable our partner to reduce the direct impact of floods by 30% through the provision of timely and informed messaging to the most vulnerable communities
Uruguay
Disaster Risk Reduction Regional Platform
The event
The ERT attended the UNDRR Regional Platform in Uruguay. Global disaster response practitioners discussed the importance and impact of digital transformation of the aid sector, especially in the pivotal work of risk reduction and preparedness.
The response
The ERT presented its work in the disaster relief space, implemented through our philanthropic initiative. We created use cases for partners on site, and presented our digital transformation initiatives and knowledge in the context of disaster risk reduction.
The impact
Our goal is to provide digital solutions for disaster preparedness to regional and national aid agencies in the area. Additionally, we aim to promote the adoption of digital solutions for disaster preparedness by introducing and encouraging aid agencies to understand and utilize them.
Kenya
Kenya floods: rapid needs assessment
The event
In 2024, after several years of extreme drought in Kenya, the country experienced heavy rains due to the El Niño phenomenon, resulting in extreme floods.
The response
Several days after the floods, the ERT arrived to support several organizations that were supporting local communities, collecting needs from the ground.
The impact
With ERT’s digital aid, our partners conducted over 350 assessments, capturing data on over 95,000 affected community members in just the first few days.
Peru
Peru mass flooding: incident management
The event
In 2024, Peru declared a 60 day state of emergency due to heavy rains, causing landslides and floods, damaging or destroying 2K+ houses and affecting ±40K people.
The response
The ERT joined SAR Peru, an organization charged with coordinating national preparedness and emergency response initiatives to support timely management and response to incidents.
The impact
The ERT deployed tools for real-time incident management, as well as coordination of team and equipment mobilization to ensure a rapid response.
South Sudan
South Sudan protracted disasters: localizing digital aid
The event
South Sudan is highly exposed to emergency events, such as floods, droughts, disease outbreaks and famine, posing substantial risks to the population.
The response
In 2024 the ERT arrived to South Sudan to support the RISE consortium of community-based organizations with digital tools to collect and share vital information, mobilize resources, and collaborate across the teams.
The impact
RISE is equipped with the digital tools to conduct comprehensive assessments, produce real-time reports, improve coordination among 8 organizations, while engaging donors in evidence-based programming.
Chile
Wildfires response: providing aid at scale
The event
In February 2024 Chile experienced the worst wildfires of the century, with over 10K hectares burnt, 6K houses destroyed and more than 130 lives lost.
The response
Five days after the wildfires started, ERT arrived to the field. With the help of our Chilean channel partner, Seidor, we created digital tools for 7 aid organizations to collect data and needs, manage aid distributions, register volunteers, and much more.
The impact
Our partners on the ground were able to reach >100K people using the monday.com platform with meals and aid distributions, support >500 small business owners, manage donations, coordinate volunteers and oversee their programs.
United States
Texas tornados: disaster activation workflow
The event
In May 2024, deadly tornados hit Texas and its surrounding states, with hurricane-force gusts of >120km/h and golf ball-sized hail. Over 500,000 people were left without electricity, 24 killed, and hundreds of homes were destroyed.
The response
3 days after the storms, the ERT arrived in Dallas, to support a Texas based relief agency that provides assistance in the immediate aftermath of a disasters through the deployment of volunteers and heavy machinery.
The impact
In two days, we developed a disaster activation and coordination workflow, helping our partner to effectively respond to four affected communities across Texas and Oklahoma, find the right volunteers, and track their impact.
United States
Afghan and Ukrainian migrant resettlement
The event
In recent years due to the crises in Afghanistan and more recently in Ukraine, tens of thousands of migrants are reaching the US to find shelter, resettling and forming a new life in shelters and other locations.
The response
In April, the ERT arrived to the HQ of a major INGO supporting migrants and refugees, to implement a digital system to reach out refugees with relevant information about their right through a resettlement process.
The impact
In 2 days, the ERT and our partner created a complete workflow to generate and collaborate on content creation, disseminate messaging through social media channels, and have clear visualization tools for the work and impact done
Florida
Hurricane Ian
The event
Two days after category 4 Hurricane Ian hit Florida, the ERT arrived to the field to support the relief work of Cadena.
The response
The ERT customized digital solutions, including community needs assessments, relief item distribution tracking, and donor reporting tools.
The impact
The monday.com platform enabled Cadena to make real-time decisions while in the field, quickly raise funds based on the data visualization tools, and save over 60% of the time typically invested in reporting.
Puerto Rico
Hurricane Fiona
The event
After Hurricane Fiona hit Puerto Rico, leaving 90% of the island without power and 55% of homes without water, the ERT joined a volunteer based disaster relief organization in the field.
The response
The ERT created digital solutions for volunteer registration and management, as well as aid request collection and community needs assessment templates.
The impact
monday.com's platform allowed the NGO volunteers to quickly collect and process data on the needs on the ground, and activate relevant support in real time.
Mexico
Complete digital transformation
The event
During the 2022 hurricane season, Mexico was hit by numerous major storms, affecting hundreds of thousands of people.
The response
The ERT joined a leading disaster relief NGO, which responds weekly to various emergencies, to create comprehensive workflows for complete emergency response management.
The impact
within 1 week, the NGO went through a complete digital transformation, allowing it to streamline its existing processes, create cross-team collaboration, generate real time reporting and save over 30% of their time.
Mexico
Venezuela Refugee Crisis
The event
The Venezuelan refugee crisis is now considered the largest humanitarian crisis in the region, with 2,000 people estimated to be fleeing the country daily. Their journey to seek asylum includes a harsh, months long trek on foot, making those refugee shelters set up along the way vital to their chances of survival.
The response
The ERT worked with a major INGO to design a comprehensive program management tool for refugee shelter management project including shelter logistics, refugee assessments, partner CRM, reporting and collaboration tools.
The impact
The Impact: In a few days the ERT and the INGO digitized the management of 94 shelters with annual population of 360,000, across Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico, providing relevant content and needed tools to refugees en transit.
Australia
Floods: volunteer registration
The event
During the 2022 flooding season in NSW, Australia, Lismore experienced one of the worst flood events seen in years.
The response
The ERT joined Resilient Lismore, a local civil society organization, and rapidly created the digital infrastructure to provide community support.
The impact
The ERT created a scalable solution to register over 700 community volunteers and match them with thousands of requests for jobs that came in, including house rebuilding, rubbish removal, matching wellbeing needs and population mapping.
Ethiopia
Protracted disasters: assessment registry tool
The event
During 2023, Ethiopia faced multiple emergencies, including conflict in the Tigray region and severe drought conditions. This resulted in violence, displacement, and a dire need for humanitarian assistance.
The response
ERT partnered with an international aid organization that coordinates humanitarian efforts on a large scale. The ERT created a tool for coordination among humanitarian actors, ensuring efficient and effective response to emergencies in Ethiopia.
The impact
With the ERT’s support, our partner now has a centralized tool for their missions, assisting them to coordinate over 500 organizations in the Country.
Philippines
Typhoon Falcon: Emergency Operations Center
The event
In 2023 Typhoon Falcon which struck the northern part of the Philippines, resulted in severe infrastructure damage and loss of life.
The response
The ERT deployed to provide support to PDRF for the full operation of their Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
The impact
Within days, the ERT facilitated the coordination of two large emergency response operations, and the mobilization of aid to over 10,000 households.
Morocco
High Atlas Mountains earthquake: needs assessment and distribution management
The event
In 2023, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Moroccan Atlas Mountains, causing severe impact with over 800,000 people affected and thousands dead.
The response
Four days after the earthquakes, ERT arrived to the field to support new and existing partners. The focus was village needs assessments, medical assessment and distribution management, as data was limited.
The impact
With monday, our partner, The High Atlas Foundation created the largest needs assessment database of >375 villages, and provided >490 tons of relief items
Romania
Distribution management
The event
IsraAID, a leading INGO in the disaster response space provided extensive support to affected populations following the humanitarian crises in Ukraine.
The response
The response: the ERT together with monday.com volunteers helped IsraAID design and implement a large scale distribution management tool, for automated shipment of good to relevant aid organizations.
The impact
IsraAID provided support to thousands of people, shipping millions of relief items to refugees and affected population across the region.
Australia
Northern Rivers resilience: building dynamic preparedness at scale
The event
The Northern Rivers region in Australia is susceptible to natural events, leading to continuous disasters and extreme events, affecting local communities.
The response
In 2024 the ERT arrived at the Northern Rivers in order to provide support at scale and help prepare several community based organizations be equipped with relevant tools to build dynamic preparedness for future events..
The impact
In 4 weeks the ERT and monday.com volunteers helped 11 community based organizations to build tailored disaster coordination and response tools, allowing them to have flexible and scalable tools that can be adapted based on the dynamic needs of future disasters.
Philippines
Emergency Operation Center
The event
A devastating tropical storm caused extreme flooding and mudslides, with dozens of deaths, thousands of people displaced, and significant infrastructure damage.
The response
ERT supports the Philippines Red Cross national EOC (Emergency Operations Centre) with our disaster management solution, enabling the operational teams to rapidly and efficiently respond, based on real-time data submitted directly from the affected areas.
The impact
The monday.com disaster management solution enhanced operational efficiency, creating one source of truth for decision makers, cross-team collaboration, and streamlining situational analysis and reporting.
Canada
Wildfire preparedness: volunteer coordination sytem
The event
Nearly every year Canada experiences major wildfire events, affecting large parts of the country. This happens on the back of ongoing drought conditions and hot and dry springs and summers, exasperated by the effects of climate change.
The response
The ERT arrived in Canada in June 2024 to support one of the largest volunteer based organizations, creating a workflow to register and coordinate 9,000 volunteers from across 13 territories, to support on major disasters.
The impact
In 4 days the ERT created a complete workflow for our partner to manage their registration, engagement, work and monitoring of their volunteer network, as well as the collaboration and interaction with its other related organizations.
Brazil
Floods: support at scale
The event
Since April 2024, heavy rainfall and flooding in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul became the state’s worst weather-related emergency, with +2 million people affected.
The response
The ERT supported several NGOs and initiatives responding to the emergency, with emergency response tools, free monday.com licenses and pro bono implementation.
The impact
In 4 weeks we were able to support 8 organizations and create an array of digital tools that enable them to respond dynamically to the changing realities.
Poland
Floods: digital solutions
The event
In September 2024, heavy and persistent rainfall caused severe flooding across Poland, impacting over 50,000 people and displacing thousands from their homes.
The response
The monday.com Emergency Response Team (ERT) supported with several Polish initiatives, with pro bono access to monday.com’s platform and emergency response templates, enabling organizations to enhance their coordination efforts.
The impact
By equipping Polish relief organizations with tailored solutions, they were able to improve efficiency and maximize their impact during the crisis.
Nepal
Floods: enhancing local NGO
The event
In September 2024, heavy rainfall in Nepal caused severe flooding and landslides, directly affecting over 80,000 people across 21 districts. Due to damage to homes, 10.8k households were displaced, impacting more than 16k families. Authorities reported 246 fatalities, 183 injuries, and 18 missing persons, while over 17,000 people have been rescued.
The response
The ERT arrived in Kathmandu Valley to support a local NGO in its emergency relief efforts. The aim was to streamline the response using monday.com for needs assessment, beneficiary registration, aid distribution, volunteer management, and reporting.
The impact
After just two days, the NGO was using our digital solutions in the field. With offline data collection integrations, our partner was able to assess the needs of affected communities and register beneficiaries while distributing aid.They also began their assessments, aiming to collect data from families spread across the hard-to-reach mountainous areas of Lalitpur. Additionally, they started registering beneficiaries for one of their aid distributions in Bagmati Province, where they plan to support families severely affected by the floods.
